Vladimir Kvint noted that the issue of saving water resources is included among the five most important priorities in the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy.
It is planned to determine the main strategic directions in the field of water management by the end of January. Two working groups will be created for each priority direction: in Uzbekistan and at the Center for Strategic Studies of Moscow State University. The ultimate goal of the document is to eliminate the water shortage in Uzbekistan and improve the quality of fresh water, he said.
In early October, a three-day seminar for senior management is planned, where the strategy methodology will be explained in detail.
The participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on the importance of efficient distribution of water resources in housing and communal economy, agriculture and industry. For the proper use of water resources, Jamshid Kuchkarov and Vladimir Kvint agreed to develop an alternative strategy for Uzbekistan’s water resources until 2030 using the example of the Kuznetsk coal basin (Kuzbass).
