Import of medical equipment and medicines for treating children exempted from customs duties until 2026
A presidential decree “On measures to protect the health of mothers and children and strengthen the reproductive health of the population” was adopted.

According to the resolution, until January 1, 2026, the following are exempt from customs duties:
- high-tech medical equipment, components, reagents, necessary materials, medicines and special food products for children, not produced in Uzbekistan and imported into the country by the Ministry of Health and the “Sog‘lom Avlod Uchun” charitable foundation;
- special food products for children suffering from phenylketonuria, not produced in Uzbekistan.
From October 1, 2023, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health, as well as 14 regional branches of the center, will be created.
The center will introduce specialized and high-tech diagnostic and treatment practices for screening pregnant women and newborns, as well as provide obstetric-gynecological, medical-genetic consulting services.
The resolution also approved a program of measures for the further development of maternal and child health services and reproductive health of the population. The program provides for the digitalization and practical implementation of the home certificate for pregnant women.
Along with this, the number of maternity beds will be increased to 4,321 between 2023 and 2027.
