Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Charles Michel discuss development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and European Council
On September 18, as part of his visit to the US, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the European Council Charles Michel at his residence in New York .

The parties discussed the issues of further expanding multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, primarily in the political, trade-economic, investment, and humanitarian areas.
It was noted that bilateral relations reached a high-level today. The visit of the EC head to Uzbekistan, summits in the "EU-Central Asia" format, the international conference on interdependence and economic forums were successfully held.
Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan's trade volume with EU countries has increased by 35%, major investment projects are being implemented together with leading European companies, and important cultural events are being organized.
During the meeting, the issues of speedy adoption of the Extended Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, creation of favorable conditions for increasing mutual trade and investments, deepening of cooperation in the main sectors of the economy, including the adoption of long-term bilateral documents, were considered.
The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, noted that the leader of Uzbekistan is playing a leading role in promoting regional cooperation in Central Asia, strengthening trust, good neighborliness and partnership relations.
Special attention was paid to the development of effective international transport corridors, in particular, the Trans-Caspian multimodal route.
The sides exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, including efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.
A plan for future multilateral activities was also reviewed.
