Uzbekistan to commission several power stations with a capacity of up to 9,000 megawatts by 2026

Solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of more than 8,000 megawatts and new hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 868 megawatts will be commissioned by 2026.

According to the Ministry of Energy, in 2025, 2 wind power plants with a capacity of 500 megawatts each will be commissioned in the Peshku and Gijduvan districts of the Bukhara region, and in 2026, 4 wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,600 megawatts will be commissioned in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Currently, a tender for the construction of a 200-megawatt wind power plant is underway in Karakalpakstan.

In addition, by the end of 2023, it is planned to launch small renewable energy sources with a total capacity of about 1.8 gigawatts.

It should be noted that by 2026, solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of more than 8,000 megawatts, and new hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 868 megawatts will start operating in Uzbekistan as a result of systematic works, the report says.

Today, due to environmental problems, the creation of green energy sources as an alternative to hydroelectric and thermal power stations has become one of the important measures to prevent energy shortages in the future. Therefore, it is natural that the effective use of existing opportunities in the regions, the commissioning of solar and wind power stations, and small hydroelectric power stations will serve as an effective solution.
