CERR: Sales of electric cars down for the first time since November 2022
The demand for foreign-made passenger cars has also dropped significantly.
Sales of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan decreased for the first time since the end of 2022, the Center for Economic Research and Reform reports.
During September, Uzbeks bought 3.6 thousand electric cars, which is almost 3% less than the August figure.
For the first time since November 2022, the number of electric vehicles purchased has decreased.
The lowest sales of electric vehicles were observed in Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Surkhandarya regions.
Sales of passenger cars last month increased by only 1%, to 137 thousand units, and in annual terms the growth was 18%. The leader in the increase in sold cars was the Fergana region – 19%. It is followed by Namangan (9%) and Khorezm regions (5%).
On the primary market, sales in September increased by 1.4% compared to August. Compared to the same period last year, the number of passenger cars sold increased by 37%.
Thus, 33 thousand new locally produced cars were sold during the month, which is 4.2% more than the August figure. At the same time, demand for foreign cars fell by 16% – to 4.6 thousand.
There were no major changes observed in the used car market. Here sales amounted to 98.3 thousand cars, an increase of less than 1% compared to last month. However, year-on-year sales on the secondary market increased by 15.4%.
