Private sector to be involved in road construction in Uzbekistan
Starting from January 1, the private sector will be involved in the operation of public highways up to 20 km long in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the regions on the basis of outsourcing.
The presidential decision “On measures to further improve the road industry” was adopted.
From January 1, 2024, the private sector will be involved in the operation of public highways up to 20 km long in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the regions on the basis of outsourcing.
Engineering management and technical control of the project in road construction projects starting from January 1, 2025 will be carried out by independent organizations, including the private sector, in accordance with the practices and documents of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) on the basis of outsourcing conditions.
The following are organized as part of the Highways Committee:
• “Uzyulkuprik” cluster and its regional branches;
• State institution “Automotive technical condition analysis and traffic safety center”.
From 2024, budget funds for the construction, reconstruction and repair of inter-farm rural highways, cities, urban settlements, villages and farm streets will be allocated only through the “Mening yo‘lim” (“My road”) program.
As part of the establishment of green areas along public highways, the territorial divisions of the state institution “Uzyulkukalamzorlashtirish” within the Highways Committee will be transferred to the administration of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city governors.
