Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan opens in Latvia
The Honorary Consul will help protect the rights and interests of citizens of Uzbekistan located in Latvia, promote economic cooperation, attract Latvian investments and tourists to Uzbekistan.
The opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan in Riga was attended by Ambassador Kadambay Sultanov, Under Secretary of State of the Latvian Foreign Ministry Andžejs Viļumsons, representatives of government agencies, business and public circles.
During the event, it was announced that the head of the Trading House of Uzbekistan in Riga, founder and head of Outdoor Media, Vladimir Galperin, had been appointed Honorary Consul. He was awarded the corresponding consular patent.
It is noted that this is the first honorary consulate of Uzbekistan in the Baltic countries.
The Honorary Consul will be actively involved in the process of helping to protect the rights and interests of citizens of Uzbekistan located in Latvia, promoting economic cooperation, attracting Latvian investments and tourists to Uzbekistan, increasing the export of domestic products to the markets of Latvia and other Baltic countries, assisting in organizing orderly labor migration, development of cultural, humanitarian and other ties.
“The opening of the Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan in Riga, along with the start of the functioning of the representative office of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency in Tashkent, will make a great contribution to strengthening the institutional foundations of trade, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia,” the MFA said.
