Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mirvohid Azimov held talks with Roberto Manalo, the Philippines’ ambassador to Uzbekistan, with residence in Tehran, on August 14.

The sides reviewed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Philippine cooperation, including efforts to strengthen political dialogue and expand trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. The Philippine side reaffirmed its interest in developing mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan.

The two sides identified significant potential for trade, economic and investment cooperation, particularly in agriculture, the chemical industry, food processing and tourism.

They also discussed establishing direct links between the countries’ chambers of commerce and industry, as well as expanding tourism exchanges and transport connectivity.

One of the issues on the agenda was the possibility of launching direct air services between Uzbekistan and the Philippines. The sides also considered organizing reciprocal familiarization trips for representatives of the tourism industry.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their readiness to continue working together to deepen bilateral relations and implement specific mutually beneficial projects.
