Uzbekistan and China agree to cooperate on railway transportation
The parties intend to work to increase transportation along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route.
The state-owned company Temiryulkargo is agreeing to expand cooperation with Chinese partners, the press service of the enterprise reported.
A delegation from a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Railways and the Ministry of Transport went on a working visit to Beijing the previous week. On January 14, the guests met with the chairman of the Chinese company Jiayou International, Meng Liang.
The parties discussed issues of increasing multimodal transport along the route China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan. The topic of introducing digital solutions in the management of warehouses and logistics centers was also touched upon.
Following the meeting, Temiryulkargo and Jiayou International signed a memorandum of cooperation.
In recent years, China has taken the place of Uzbekistan’s main trading partner. The parties are constantly looking for new transport routes and corridors to increase the supply of goods between countries.
Thus, the Zhengzhou Hongyi Transportation company recently launched road transportation of goods through Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan. The trial truck covered the 6,500 km route in seven days, or three times faster than the main routes currently used.
In 2022, work on the railway project between the three countries intensified. According to Kyrgyz officials, construction of the line could start before the end of this year.
