Changes can be made to the procedure for citizens of Uzbekistan to import goods without customs fees when entering the country on foot or by car.
Currently, according to the 2018 decision, the following limited norms of importation of goods by individuals without customs fees are established:
• when crossing the customs border through international airports – in the amount of $2,000;
• when crossing the customs border through railway and river crossing points – in the amount of 1,000;
• when crossing the customs border through highway (pedestrian) checkpoints – in the amount of $300;
• in the amount of $1,000 for goods arriving to the address of individuals by international mail and couriers during one calendar month.
According to the source of Kun.uz, the issue of reducing the customs duty-free amount of goods imported when crossing the customs border by road (pedestrian road) from $300 to $100 is being discussed.
In addition, another condition for not collecting duty can be introduced – the citizen must have lived outside the border for at least 2 days.
The source said that some businessmen paid a certain amount of money to people and imported goods through them without paying customs fees, which was the reason for considering this issue.
