Kyrgyz government approves state ownership of lands received from Uzbekistan

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has approved a decision to accept two land plots on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border in Osh region – originally transferred by Uzbekistan – into state ownership, according to 24.kg.

The first plot covers 100 hectares and is located in the Kara-Suu district, between border markers 312/4 and 312/6. The second plot measures 198.44 hectares and lies between border markers 324 and 328 in the Aravan district.

These decisions are part of the implementation of the law ratifying the Agreement on Certain Sections of the State Border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, signed on November 3, 2022, in Bishkek.

The Kyrgyz side is expected to inventory and register the lands as state property within a month. The local governments of Kara-Suu and Aravan districts will then allocate the plots to the Kara-Suu and Kerme-Too administrative districts, respectively, for free use, ensuring the land is used according to its designated purpose.

The implementation of the decision will be financed by local budgets. Once the process of border demarcation is completed, a new administrative map will be prepared, and relevant legal documents will be updated.

The decision will come into force seven days after its publication.
