Miners from Fergana embezzled electricity worth almost 1 billion 400 million soums
Four residents of Fergana and one from Kokand were detained.
Law enforcement officials, together with the Uzenergoinspektsiya, carried out a number of operative events in the Fergana region to identify facts of illegal use of energy resources, the SSS press service reports.
In particular, 10 mining devices were found in the house of a 51-year-old resident of Kokand, which were illegally connected to the power grid. Reportedly, in the period from 2021 to 2024, this citizen illegally used electricity worth 638 million soums.
A similar case was identified in the city of Fergana, where a 35-year-old citizen arbitrarily connected 11 mining devices with a capacity of 14.85 kilowatts to the power grid. The damage is estimated at 320 million 118 thousand soums.
Another resident of Fergana (born in 1971) connected 6 Antminer devices with a capacity of 12.4 kilowatts to the power grid, illegally using electricity worth 293 million 284 thousand soums.
Another 35-year-old citizen was also involved in cryptocurrency in Fergana, who installed three mining devices in his mother’s house. The damage is estimated at 77 million 585 thousand soums.
In total, the above citizens illegally used electricity worth 1 billion 329 million 261 thousand soums.
Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against the miners under Article 169 (Theft) of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
