Dell may open its office in Uzbekistan

Minister of Digital Development Sherzod Shermatov met with several representatives of US technology companies, the Ministry of Digital Development reported.

The Uzbek delegation held negotiations with the head of Hewlett Packard’s government affairs department, Anne Burke, as well as representatives of USAID. Their main topic was plans for the development of the digital economy and in particular IT outsourcing.

Support for projects to train IT specialists and develop digital infrastructure was discussed. The parties also talked about the possibilities of using new high-quality technologies for education and work.

In addition, Shermatov received a delegation from Dell Technologies. They discussed with her the provision of Uzbek companies with modern computer equipment so that young people could provide remote services for the American market.

The issue of opening a Dell office in Uzbekistan was also touched upon. Company representatives were presented with conditions for foreign companies at the International Center for Digital Technologies, established in early February.

As a result of the meeting, a letter of commitment was signed between the Ministry of Digital Development and GovSmart. According to the description on the official website, it supplies technological solutions for government agencies.

Another meeting was attended by World Bank representative Samia Melhem. The conversation concerned the possibilities of partnership with Saudi Arabia in the field of technology.

It was proposed to study the kingdom’s experience in the areas of AI and e-government. The possibilities of outsourcing in Uzbekistan for Saudi companies were also noted.
