Uzbek citizen arrested in Russia for publicly justifying terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall
A criminal case has been initiated against a citizen of Uzbekistan, he was taken into custody for 2 months.
The Rubtsovsk city court of the Altai territory issued a ruling on the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to a citizen of Uzbekistan living in the city of Rubtsovsk, the press service of the court reported.
According to the case materials, a criminal case was initiated against the man “based on the fact of his public statement on March 24, in the premises of one of the stores in the city of Rubtsovsk, justifying the terrorist act committed in the Crocus City Hall building”.
The accused, born in 1993, was detained on March 27. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against him for a period of 2 months.
“The court, taking into account the accusation of committing a crime of medium gravity against the public safety of the Russian Federation, the identity of the accused – a citizen of a foreign state, permanent residence and registration on the territory of the Russian Federation, who does not have a legal source of income, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against A. for a period of 2 months, until May 26, 2024,” the court said in a statement.
