Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns air strike on Iran's consulate building
Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the air strike organized against the building of the Iranian Consulate. The Ministry regards the attack as a gross violation of the fundamental principles and tenets of international diplomatic law.
Recently, the Mezzeh district in the west of Syria's capital, where the Iranian embassy and consulate are located, had been targeted by missile strikes from the Israeli military air forces.
According to local media reports, at least 13 people were killed in the attack, including seven Iranian military advisors, among them two high-ranking generals from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and six Syrians.
The Ministry's spokesperson, Akhror Burkhanov, issued an official statement on his Telegram channel regarding the organized air strike.
"We strongly condemn the air strike on the building of the Iranian consulate in Damascus (Syria), which resulted in the loss of several lives and caused destruction to the territory of Iran's diplomatic mission," the report states.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deems attacks on diplomatic and other representative offices of foreign states as utterly unacceptable and as a severe breach of the foundational principles of international diplomatic law.
