Andijan Competition Committee official detained while receiving $30,000 in bribe
The official offered to conceal the fact that a company sold medicines at inflated prices, totaling 2.1 billion UZS, in exchange for money.
During an operational activity conducted by the Andijan Regional Department of the State Security Service and the Department at the Prosecutor General's Office, the deputy chief of the Andijan Regional Department of the Committee for Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights was detained while receiving a bribe.
It was discovered that the official had promised to annul a document for $30,000, which documented the company’s excess earnings from selling medicines at inflated prices amounting to 2.1 billion UZS.
He was caught receiving $22,500. The investigation revealed that he had previously received $7,500.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 210 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Receiving a Bribe), and the man has been taken into custody.
