Samarkand's Registan Square to host FIFA Futsal World Cup draw

In 2024, Uzbekistan will host the FIFA Futsal World Cup, a prestigious tournament. Before the tournament, another significant event will take place – the draw for the tournament. It is noted that the ceremony will be held at the Registan Square in Samarkand.

Over 200 countries around the world will be able to watch the ceremony, which will take place on May 26.

"A delegation led by the FIFA Assistant President for Futsal and the head of the FIFA Competitions Department Jaime Yarza visited Samarkand. The delegation was accompanied by the Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov and the First Vice President of the AFC, Ravshan Irmatov. The members of the delegation were greeted by the governor of the Samarkand region, Erkinjon Turdimov," the statement said.

The event participants were introduced to the plans for organizing the draw at Registan Square.

For reference, the 2024 World Cup matches will be held from September 4 to October 6.
