Tashkent to host a summit of Central Asian countries and Gulf Cooperation Council
A meeting of foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia will be held on April 15 in Tashkent.
Reportedly, the second meeting of foreign ministers in the format of the “Cooperation Council of Central Asia-Gulf Arab States” is starting today in the capital of Uzbekistan.
On September 7, 2022, the first ministerial meeting of the “Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf – Central Asia” Strategic Dialogue was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The prospects of the format are confirmed by the results of the first summit of the leaders of the Cooperation Council of the Central Asian countries and the Gulf Arab States, which took place on July 19, 2023 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At the high-level summit, the state leaders approved the joint action plan for 2023-2027, which defines the long-term directions of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf is a regional organization established on May 25, 1981. It includes Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. These countries are the leading region supplying hydrocarbons and an influential world financial center.
The main goal of the organization – coordination of cooperation and integration processes in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian spheres, that is, regulation of spheres such as economic and financial issues, education and culture, social and healthcare, mass media and tourism, legislation and management problems. The Council also promotes scientific and technological progress in the fields of industry, agriculture and water conservation.
