Medical misstep leads to death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child in Tashkent region
A 29-year-old pregnant woman was administered an antibiotic injection contrary to medical indications, which induced an anaphylactic shock.
The incident occurred on April 13 at the medical association of the Bostanlyk district. The 29-year-old woman sought assistance at the maternity department, complaining of feeling unwell. Despite a note in her medical record indicating an allergy, she was prescribed an antibiotic injection. After receiving the shot, the woman's condition deteriorated, and she was placed in intensive care, where she fell into a coma.
It is reported that the woman was in the 28th week of her first pregnancy.
Despite the medical care provided, neither the expectant mother nor her unborn child could be saved; they both passed away.
It is noted that the doctor who prescribed the antibiotic injection has been suspended from duty.
A pre-investigation check is being conducted on the matter, and a forensic medical examination has been ordered.
The Tashkent regional prosecutor's office has taken the investigation of this incident under its control.
