Two students attempt to kill a taxi driver in Tashkent region

They wounded the driver with a kitchen knife and strangled him, but were detained by officers of the Yangiyul district police department who were on duty at night.

In the Yangiyul district (Tashkent region), two people were detained in an attempt to kill a taxi driver, the PGO press secretary Khayot Shamsutdinov reported this to Kun.uz.

As it turned out, on April 27, 2024 at 23:30, 20-year-old Z.M. and 18-year-old D.M., armed with a kitchen knife with the aim of committing premeditated murder and taking possession of someone else’s property, ordered a taxi through an application in front of one of the Tashkent metro stations.

56-year-old Ch.A. came to their call in his Gentra car. The young people, according to a pre-drawn plan, guided the taxi along the Tashkent-Termez road to the Yangiyul district territory.

At approximately 01:00, the young people stopped the car after reaching the territory of the “Chamanzor” mahalla. Z.M. held the driver by the hands, and D.M., sitting in the back seat, hit the driver in the neck with a kitchen knife and choked him.

What was happening was noticed by four officers on duty at the Yangiyul district police department, who were on duty on the night shift, and they detained the young people.

During the investigation it turned out that Z.M. was 1st year student at Tashkent University of Information Technologies, and D.M. – Tashkent State Economic University.

It is noted that in relation to this fact, the prosecutor’s office of the Yangiyul district charged Z.M. and D.M. under Paragraphs “i, p” of Part 2 of Articles 97 and 25, and Paragraph “b” of Part 3 of Article 164 of the Criminal Code. The young people were taken into custody as a preventive measure.

Currently, the district prosecutor’s office is conducting a preliminary investigation into the criminal case.
