Uzbekistan and Great Britain eye to expand cooperation in field of tourism
The delegation of Uzbekistan, led by the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Umid Shodiyev, who was on a visit to London, held meetings in a number of ministries and organizations in the UK.
In particular, negotiations took place with the leadership of the UK Ministry of Culture, Media and Sport, Birmingham University College, the Association of Travel Agencies, the Bloomberg Media television corporation and the largest tour operators.
During the meetings, information was provided about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, the conditions created for local and foreign tourists and travel companies, tourism infrastructure, as well as reforms carried out in this area in our country.
At the meeting held at the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further development and expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism, discussed issues of developing mutual cooperation in the field of tourism, improving the bilateral regulatory framework in these areas, increasing the flow of tourists between countries.
The issues of holding joint seminars on tourism destinations for representatives of the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, organizing internships for teaching staff and students at Birmingham University College and exchanging experience in the field of training specialists in the field were also discussed.
The parties agreed to continue contacts in order to discuss practical measures to realize the existing potential for expanding cooperation in the above areas.
As a result of negotiations with tour operators, specific agreements were reached on promoting the tourism potential of Uzbekistan in the UK in order to increase the flow of tourists to the republic this year.
