António Guterres arrives in Tashkent
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Prime Minister’s press secretary Bekzod Khidoyatov reported.
The guest was met at Tashkent International Airport by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other officials.
After a short conversation, the UN Secretary-General, accompanied by FM Bakhtiyor Saidov, went to the residence allocated for him.
During his visit, he will get acquainted with projects related to the fight against climate change and communicate with local activists.
It was previously reported that Guterres will visit Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. He last visited the region in 2017.
