Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to jointly develop Kadamjay-Shokhimardon tourism route
Within the framework of developing tourism, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan plan to restore the "Dugoba" mountaineers' camp and jointly use the Kadamjay-Shokhimardon route.
The governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are planning to restore the "Dugoba" mountaineers' camp as part of tourism development, Gazeta.uz reports with reference to the governor of the Fergana region, Khayrulla Bozorov.
It is noted that a regional delegation visited Kyrgyzstan and established new plans and projects for cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
"The second aspect is to enhance and develop tourism together. One of our greatest resources for this is Shokhimardon. This involves the joint use of the Kadamjay-Shokhimardon route. Additionally, we plan to jointly restore the 'Dugoba' mountaineering camp, which was very popular in the past," said the governor.
The "Dugoba" mountain camp is located near the Uzbek enclave of Shokhimardon in Kyrgyzstan, as well as near the town of Kadamjay in the Batken region. The site is surrounded by juniper forests and rocky and snowy peaks, including Okhunboboev (5200 m), Materei (5010 m), Frunze (4550 m), and other peaks.
The mountain camp, established in 1982 within the Uchkorgon forestry area, was given to the Uzbek SSR for long-term use. In 1997, the "Dugoba" mountain camp was returned to Kyrgyzstan.
