Doctors in Tashkent brutally beaten before surgery, criminal case initiated
Criminal charges have been filed against the individuals who brutally beat the doctors.
In Tashkent, two doctors at the First City Clinical Hospital were beaten before surgery by a patient and his friends, the Ministry of Health reports.
It was found that on July 27, around 07:20, 27-year-old B.I. was brought to the emergency department, accompanied by his two peers, P.I. and S.B.
The on-duty traumatologist diagnosed the patient with multiple lacerations to the forearms, chest, and abdomen, as well as 2nd to 3rd-degree hemorrhagic shock.
The patient was given first aid to stop the bleeding and manage the shock and was then hospitalized in the emergency surgery and microsurgery department.
At 07:40, given the multiple lacerations, the patient was immediately transferred to the operating room for surgery.
During preparation for the surgery, the patient began actively resisting the microsurgeon M.K., hitting him in the face and verbally abusing him. The doctor was unable to calm the patient, who got off the operating table and began to brutally beat him. The doctor called 102 to report the incident. Subsequently, he was also beaten by the patient’s friends, P.I. and S.B.
At that time, the on-duty emergency surgeon, K.U., came to the operating block to perform the surgery and was also brutally beaten by the patient’s friends, sustaining serious bodily injuries.
As a result, the doctor lost consciousness and fell into a coma. He was placed in the intensive care unit.
The initial medical examination diagnosed the injured doctor with a closed head injury, moderate brain contusion, closed fracture of the left lateral part of the 3rd lumbar vertebra, and facial injuries. He received urgent intensive care.
The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 277 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Hooliganism). The suspects have been detained.
