Chartak court jails driver responsible for 14-year-old's death following Kun.uz investigation
The driver, who caused the death of a 14-year-old boy by driving a car without proper documentation and was initially left at large during the investigation, has been detained as a precautionary measure by the decision of the Chartak District Court. The Malibu, which had been returned to its owner before the court's conclusion, was also returned to the impound lot following an investigation by Kun.uz.
On June 16, 2024, a traffic accident in Namangan resulted in the death of a young boy: Ibrohimjon, who had just turned 14 and was the only son of a single mother, was returning from his grandfather's house on his bicycle when he was struck by a Malibu. As a result, he died. The investigative authority had left the driver at large on bail.
The case is being substantively reviewed in the Chartak District Court for Criminal Cases.
After Kun.uz published an article about this on July 29, a subsequent court session was held on the same day, and the defendant A.D.'s bail measure was changed, leading to his detention in the courtroom.
According to the source, the Malibu car, which had been placed in the impound lot after the incident, was returned to its owner for unknown reasons before the court's conclusion. This issue was also reviewed at the court session held yesterday, and an order was issued to return the Malibu to the impound lot.
For reference, Article 266, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (Violation of traffic safety rules or the use of vehicles resulting in death) provides for a punishment of up to 7 years of imprisonment and deprivation of certain rights for those committing this crime.
