TashTeploCentral faces penalties for excessive water usage and unjustified income
The Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee has identified that "TashTeploCentral" obtained an unjustified income of 2.5 billion UZS.
The Committee discovered that there were violations in the formation and application of tariffs for thermal energy.
"The prices for thermal energy produced by this natural monopoly entity are approved by the financial authority of Tashkent city, and it was established that 13.3 cubic meters of water should be used for each Gcal of thermal energy," the Committee said in a statement.
Upon examining the actual costs of thermal energy, it was found that the established norm was exceeded by 14.01 cubic meters per Gcal. As a result, the company used an additional 4,728.85 thousand cubic meters of water, and with a volume of 6.7 million Gcal of thermal energy sold in 2023, it earned an unjustified income of more than 2.5 billion sums.
"TashTeploCentral" violated the provisions of the regulation approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution No. 239 dated October 28, 2010. A case has been initiated against the company, and they have been instructed to voluntarily return the unjustified income to consumers.
