In an interview with Uzbekistan 24, Khodjaev said energy cooperation between the two countries was developing across several areas.
One of the projects involves hydrocarbon exploration and production on the Ustyurt Plateau. Another focuses on supplying renewable energy generated in Uzbekistan to Europe in cooperation with Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The two sides have also proposed establishing joint production of petroleum products in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, particularly motor fuel and jet fuel for the Uzbek market.
Khodjaev said Uzbekistan could join a new oil refinery currently under construction in Azerbaijan as a partner, with part of the products manufactured there subsequently supplied to Uzbekistan. He also referred to potential cooperation involving oil refineries in Uzbekistan.
Such cooperation could help ensure a more reliable supply of petroleum products to Uzbekistan’s domestic market, the minister said.
Khodjaev also stressed the potential for exporting renewable electricity generated in Uzbekistan to Europe through Azerbaijan, as part of the wider cooperation involving Kazakhstan.
