Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee urges returning citizens to take health changes seriously

During a briefing on June 19, Rustamjon Ikromov provided information about the transmission of monkeypox and the measures being taken in Uzbekistan to combat it. Ikromov emphasized that monkeypox is a viral infection that can be transmitted to humans through contact with contaminated objects, infected animals, or sexual contact.

He also outlined the steps that would be taken if the disease were to enter Uzbekistan, including:

- Establishing beds and a stockpile of necessary medicines in infectious disease hospitals for patient hospitalization;
- Organizing 21-day medical monitoring for those who have been in contact with infected individuals;
- Increasing the vigilance of specialists at sanitary control points in international airports, and at railway and road border crossings to prevent the entry and spread of the disease;
- Enhancing the skills of specialists based on a methodological guide on the etiology, clinical aspects, epidemiology, and prevention of monkeypox;
- Creating a stockpile of test kits for laboratory diagnosis of the disease.

The representative of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee reminded that strict measures are being taken to prevent the entry of this disease into Uzbekistan and urged citizens to trust doctors in all situations and take their health seriously.

"Nobody is restricting visits to various countries, but after returning from those countries or for other reasons, if you notice any changes in your health, do not forget that you should only consult doctors for proper diagnosis and treatment," said Rustamjon Ikromov.
