Citizen of Uzbekistan rescued from four-year illegal detention in Türkiye
The Consulate of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has issued an official statement regarding the case.
A 21-year-old citizen from Karshi city contacted the Foreign Ministry through the consulate, requesting assistance in locating and repatriating her mother who left for Istanbul four years ago and has been out of contact for three years.
Following investigations, it was found that Kh.D., born in Karshi in 1982, had been held against her will by a Turkish citizen, M.G., in the city of Uşak, Türkiye.
On August 27 of this year, a rapid response operation was conducted in cooperation with the consulate, the representative of Foreign Labor Migration in Istanbul, the “Uzbek Women’s Rights Protection” society, and the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“As a result, our compatriot was rescued without harm to her life or health and was taken to the Uşak City Police Department,” the statement said.
In accordance with Turkish law, a criminal case has been opened against M.G. for unlawfully detaining Kh.D.
Currently, work is underway to repatriate Kh.D. to Uzbekistan.
