New small hydropower plant officially launched in Surkhandarya, ready to generate 13 million kWh of electricity annually
In the Sariosiyo district of Surkhandarya region, the "Zarchob-1A" small hydropower plant has been commissioned. The project's cost is $3.3 million. The station will produce 13 million kWh of electricity annually and supply 4,750 households.

On August 30, the "Zarchob-1A" small hydropower plant was officially launched in the Sariosiyo district of the Surkhandarya region, according to a report from the press service of "Uzbekhydroenergo."
Located on the Topalang River, the "Zarchob-1A" plant has a capacity of 3 MW and will generate an average of 13.3 million kWh of electricity per year.
It is noted that with the commissioning of this small hydropower plant, water from the river is being passed through hydro turbines for the fourth time to produce electricity.
The project cost for constructing the hydropower plant is $3.33 million. The launch of the plant has created five new jobs.
The construction of the plant was carried out by Gidro Texnik LLC. A vertical Francis-type hydroturbine was installed.
According to calculations, the electricity produced by "Zarchob-1A" will supply 4,750 households.
