"Initiative Budget" 2024: 1,772 winning projects to receive over 2.1 trillion UZS
The winners of the second season were 1,772 projects across the country. Over 2.1 trillion UZS will be allocated for their funding. A project from the Kasansky district received the highest number of votes—14,663. A project from Chirchik won by just 52 votes.
The winning projects of the 2nd season of the "Initiative Budget" for 2024 have been announced, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Across the entire republic, 9 million 81 thousand votes were cast, and 1,772 projects were recognized as winners, with a total amount of 2 trillion 139 billion UZS.
An initiative from the Kasan district (repair of internal roads) received the most votes—14,663. An initiative from the city of Chirchik (repair of internal roads) won with the fewest votes—just 52!
For reference, the season started on July 6. Project submissions were open from July 6 to July 26, selection took place from July 26 to August 15, and promotion ran from August 15 to August 22. The voting stage ended on August 31.
Participatory budgeting is a form of direct democracy that allows residents of a municipality to participate directly in the allocation of a portion of the local self-government budget. The allocation is carried out through a public process of proposing, discussing, and selecting projects for spending municipal budget funds, followed by oversight of the implementation of the selected projects.
