Uzbekistan sees surge in students going abroad for education
In the first seven months of 2024, a significant number of citizens of Uzbekistan have pursued educational opportunities abroad.
According to data from the Statistics Agency, between January and July, 21.7 thousand Uzbek nationals left the country to study overseas.
Tajikistan was the top destination, attracting 10,497 students from Uzbekistan. Russia followed with 3,891 students, while 2,211 opted for the Kyrgyz Republic. Turkey welcomed 1,240 Uzbek students, and 1,063 headed to South Korea.
Other notable destinations included Kazakhstan with 874 students, the United Kingdom with 423, China with 337, Germany with 209, and the United States with 192 students. Additionally, 720 citizens of Uzbekistan chose to study in various other countries around the world.
