Uztemiryulyulovchi promises to replace outdated train wagons
The head of Uztemiryulyulovchi, Sharofiddin Qodirov, announced that the company will retire 100 outdated wagons. According to Qodirov, measures will be taken to ensure that air conditioning continues to function in wagons while stopped at stations by generating electricity with diesel power.
Uztemiryulyulovchi held a press conference on September 5, where Director General Sharofiddin Qodirov answered journalists' questions.
Qodirov commented on a video circulating online showing a malfunctioning cooling system in a wagon used by show business representatives. He explained that 100 wagons not adapted for alternative energy will be retired because they are not supplied with electricity while stopped at stations; only after the train starts moving will the generator produce power.
“During the hot two months of the year, the temperature rises sharply. As a result, the air conditioning does not work during the 'boarding' time, which is a valid complaint from the public. It starts working only after the train moves.
We use 320 passenger wagons. This is technology. Artists complained that it was broken and not working. Technology and compressors can overheat after 40 degrees. Our wagons have been in use for 35 years, and some were not originally designed or equipped with air conditioning, running on 54 volts. However, the trains currently running on the Khorezm route have been completely updated, and all have air conditioning.
We are now developing diesel trains. There will be a diesel engine at the front, which will maintain the temperature inside the wagon even while stopped at the station. Alternative electricity will be generated and provided. We are working on this. However, technical failures can still occur; with 320 wagons, 2-3 breakdowns are possible, which is part of the technology. We are always taking measures to address these issues,” said Qodirov.
