Two Russian police officers responsible for death of a citizen of Uzbekistan arrested
Police officers had abandoned a 45-year-old migrant in a forest, where his body was found months later.
Two police officers in the Moscow region will be tried for abandoning a migrant from Uzbekistan in the forest. The man’s body was discovered months later, according to a report by Mash.
In May of this year, law enforcement officers arrested the 45-year-old migrant while he was intoxicated and left him in a forest between the villages of Dubrovka and Zagriazskaya "to sober up." However, they never returned to retrieve him, and the man lost his way back in the woods.
Subsequently, the man's relatives reported him missing. His remains were not found until September, by which time animals had consumed parts of his body.
According to the report, the last people to see the victim were a junior lieutenant and a senior sergeant, both of whom have been arrested. The officers have been dismissed from their positions and are set to face trial for abuse of power.
