Saida Mirziyoyeva highlights Uzbekistan's role in educating Afghan women at Qatar forum

The Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva participated in a roundtable discussion organized in Qatar in honor of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack.

"It is a great honor for me to participate in the roundtable. I express my gratitude to Her Excellency Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned for the invitation," she said.

Uzbekistan places great importance on the quality of education, particularly on ensuring that girls and women have access to knowledge. In this regard, efforts are not limited by national borders.

In 2018, on the initiative of the President, a vocational education center was opened in the city of Termez, and so far, nearly 700 Afghan citizens have been educated there, 200 of whom are women.

"For Afghan women, this is extremely important, as there is a significant shortage of qualified medical personnel in the country to protect the health of mothers and children.

We are ready to continue educating Afghan girls and women in essential professions to help prevent a humanitarian crisis. The Qatari government and the Education Above All foundation are prepared to assist us in this regard.

Given the current situation, this task will not be easy for any of the parties involved. However, we are ready to put all our strength into achieving this goal," stated the Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the best protection for women is the free and unhindered access to education.
