Vocational schools and colleges to be converted into technical institutes in Uzbekistan
A network of technical institutes will be established and transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.
On September 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation outlining proposals for the development of vocational education and reforms to the national qualification system.
Currently, the vocational education system consists of three types of institutions: 333 vocational schools, 227 technical institutes, and 112 colleges.

It was reported that the capacities of vocational schools and colleges are being used inefficiently, prompting the creation of a new network of 600 technical institutes across the country.
As a result of this optimization, 71 vacated educational buildings will be converted into schools, creating 42,000 new student seats.

Additionally, the former colleges and vocational schools will be transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.
