Expired medicines stockpiled for sale seized in Tashkent
Authorities in Tashkent have prevented the illegal sale of expired medicines worth 2.2 billion UZS.
The operation, conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Anti-Smuggling Division of the Tashkent City Police Department in the Yunusabad district, uncovered a stockpile of expired pharmaceutical products stored in a non-residential building. These medicines were being held by officials of the private company "A. Ph." with the intent of selling them.
All expired medicines were confiscated as evidence. A criminal case has been opened under Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which covers the production, storage, or sale of substandard or counterfeit medical products, as well as the unauthorized sale of medicines outside licensed pharmacies or improper handling of prescription drugs containing strong substances.
The investigation is currently underway.
