Russian oil supplies to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan increase by 30%

According to Sorokin, "In 2024, from January to August, oil supplies from Russia, transiting through Kazakhstan, have already exceeded the total figures for 2023 by approximately 30%." He also expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan's partners for their constructive approach in this matter.

In his remarks about the transit of Russian oil through Kazakhstan to China, Sorokin noted that in 2023, the volume of supplies to the People's Republic of China reached 10 million tons. "This year, we hope to achieve similar results," he added.

The transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan through the KazTransOil pipeline system began in 2017, initially reaching a volume of 67,900 tons. In 2018, this figure dropped to 36,000 tons, and no transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan took place from 2019 to 2022.

Furthermore, from January to August 2024, Uzbekistan significantly increased its export of oil and petroleum products, which rose by 2.3 times to reach $409 million. In contrast, imports of oil surged by 29.5%, totaling $1.422 billion.

This growing transit volume underscores the strengthening energy ties between Russia and Uzbekistan, facilitated by cooperation with Kazakhstan, a key transit country in the region.
