The existing Bukhara airport currently serves only 400 passengers per hour, or around 1 million passengers annually, and is no longer sufficient to meet the needs of the local population and the growing number of tourists.

Construction of the new airport began on May 31 of this year during President Mirziyoyev's visit to the Bukhara district. The project, developed as part of a public-private partnership, aims to build world-class infrastructure. The new facility is expected to attract more international airlines by offering improved services for passengers and aircraft.
During the presentation, technical and economic aspects of the project were also discussed. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to double the new airport’s capacity and ensure that it can accommodate eight flights per hour.
