Saida Mirziyoyeva discusses with UNFPA representative national health initiatives for women
On October 21, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Nigina Abaszada, head of the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) office in Uzbekistan. The meeting, as announced on Mirziyoyeva’s Telegram channel, focused on crucial health issues, including the fight against cervical and breast cancer.

During the discussion, particular attention was given to education, healthcare, and the development of human capital in Uzbekistan. Mirziyoyeva emphasized the importance of ongoing national programs aimed at combating cervical and breast cancer. Both parties discussed the broader issue of maternal and child mortality in the country, with UNFPA offering its technical assistance and expertise to support Uzbekistan's initiatives in these areas.
Mirziyoyeva highlighted the country’s progress in improving healthcare services, particularly in enhancing screening programs for women as part of a new state initiative to prevent and treat cancer. She noted, "We are working to improve the system of screening and supporting women under the new national program aimed at the prevention and treatment of cervical and breast cancer."
Previously, Saida Mirziyoyeva had congratulated staff at the Republican Specialized Center for Maternal and Child Health, stressing the need to expand screening programs and improve support systems for women.
