Uzbekistan and UNODC strengthen cooperation on drug control and crime prevention
On October 21, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, held a meeting with Oliver Stolpe, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation with relevant agencies in the region. Key topics included reducing drug consumption and illegal trafficking, combating organized crime, preventing corruption, and addressing terrorism.
Oliver Stolpe praised Uzbekistan’s efforts in developing a unified regional stance on Afghanistan. He commended the country’s role in contributing to long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan and providing humanitarian aid to its people.
Both parties agreed to maintain regular contact and continue exchanging views on current and future initiatives related to drug control and crime prevention.
