Uzbekistan sees 70% surge in IT service exporters over nine months
The number of IT service exporters in Uzbekistan has surged by 70% in the first nine months of this year. By the end of September, 936 enterprises within IT Park were delivering digital services to 78 countries, a notable increase from 58 countries last year.
The growth in export activity is significant, with over one-third of IT Park residents generating income from international sales. Among the new exporters, just over half are engaged in providing IT services, which include software development, modifications, and technical support. Additionally, 190 firms are involved in outsourcing services, while 21 companies operate within the creative industry and GameDev sector.
Regional developments are also noteworthy, with 191 exporter companies having launched operations across the country. The volume of IT services supplied abroad has soared by 374%. The Tashkent region leads in this expansion, housing 32 firms, followed by Samarkand with 29 and Jizzakh with 17.
In the third quarter alone, more than 200 IT companies with foreign participation were established, including 84 joint ventures. These ventures were founded by investors from 52 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, Japan, the UAE, India, and Singapore.
The geographical spread of Uzbekistan's digital product and service exports is impressive, now encompassing 78 nations. North America remains the largest market, accounting for 45% of foreign revenue, while the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Asia-Pacific region contribute 27%, European markets provide 21%, and countries in the Middle East and North Africa account for 6%.
In mid-October, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced new incentives for export-oriented IT companies established by foreign founders. The reforms include reduced income tax and corporate tax rates, lowered to 5%, aimed at fostering a more conducive environment for international business.
