Abdukodir Khusanov named Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Month for October
Abdukodir Khusanov, the 20-year-old defender of the Uzbekistan national football team, has won his first individual accolade in the French football league, being named October’s Best Young Player in Ligue 1.
Last week, Ligue 1’s official website announced the nominees for October’s Best Young Player, including Khusanov among the top three candidates.
A public poll conducted on the league’s official Twitter page decided the winner, with Khusanov ultimately collecting the most votes, beating out contenders Jonathan Rowe, the 21-year-old forward from Marseille, and Malick Fofana, the 19-year-old forward from Lyon.
Khusanov’s success in the fan poll comes shortly after he was recognized as Player of the Month by his club, RC Lens. The young defender has been a standout this season, having played in 12 matches. However, he was recently ejected during a match against Paris Saint-Germain for a foul on Achraf Hakimi, which will sideline him for the next game.
