Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation on seasonal produce and trade
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to enhance bilateral trade, focusing on mutual supplies of seasonal fruits and vegetables, during a meeting between Uzbekistan's Ambassador Bakhtiyor Ibragimov and Marat Sultangaziev, Akim of Kazakhstan's Almaty region.
The discussions emphasized accelerating trade and economic relations while fostering cultural and humanitarian ties. Key sectors highlighted for collaboration included agriculture, industry, tourism, and trade.
Ambassador Ibragimov noted the stable growth of trade between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, with the Almaty region alone recording a trade turnover of $171 million in the first eight months of 2024.
The meeting resulted in several agreements, including:
• Seasonal produce supplies: Mutual exports of fruits and vegetables.
• Joint ventures: Plans to establish collaborative production of dairy products and packaging materials.
• Business forum participation: A delegation from the Almaty region will attend the Kashkadarya Invest-2024 business forum in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region.
