Uzbekistan aims for $700M in auto exports and increased localization in 2025
On December 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation outlining key priorities for the automotive industry ahead of 2025. The discussion, which built on instructions given last month, emphasized enhancing production capacity and improving vehicle quality.

With over 400,000 vehicles sold annually, the automotive sector is poised for continued growth, driven by increasing consumer incomes. This presents an opportunity to ramp up production of vehicles that meet the rising demand.
A key initiative is the localization of 60 parts for “BYD” electric vehicles, which is set to reduce production costs in 2025. The leadership of the company has expressed high regard for the potential of Uzbekistan’s domestic enterprises. In this regard, efforts to double production volumes, with support from the Localization Promotion Center, will focus on regional collaboration.
Export expansion was also a major topic of discussion. Over the past few years, Uzbekistan has exported more than 40,000 auto kits to neighboring countries, and plans for next year include increasing exports to exceed $700 million. Additionally, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to promote the country's bus and truck manufacturing capabilities in international markets, especially for products made in Samarkand.
The president underlined the economic and social significance of the automotive industry, stressing the importance of adapting to modern trends, ensuring stable production, and constantly improving marketing strategies and product quality.
