BYD eyes greater localization and export growth in Uzbekistan
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is discussing plans with the Uzbek government to expand electric vehicle production, increase localization, and develop a nationwide network of fast-charging stations, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.
The plans were discussed on July 8 during talks between Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Cao Shuang, BYD's Managing Director for Central Asia and the Caucasus.

The meeting focused on the progress of the company's electric vehicle manufacturing project in Jizzakh region, which was launched in June 2024.
The two sides reviewed plans to expand the plant's production capacity, increase the localization of components, and strengthen its export potential.

They also discussed the development of production infrastructure, increasing export shipments, and establishing a nationwide network of fast-charging stations for electric vehicles.
According to the ministry, both sides reaffirmed their interest in strengthening their long-term partnership and ensuring the continued successful development of BYD's operations in Uzbekistan.
