Chust court chairman under investigation for assaulting his assistant
The assaulted assistant sought medical attention, where facial injuries were documented. The district prosecutor's office has initiated a preliminary investigation, and the chairman could face a fine for his actions.
Jakhongir Yakubkhodjaev, the chairman of the criminal court in Chust district, assaulted his assistant, Shokhjakhon Yakhshiboev, causing bodily harm, according to a source who informed Kun.uz.
The incident occurred on January 18, 2025, when Yakubkhodjaev attacked his assistant in his office. The victim sought medical help at the Turakurgan district medical center, where a certificate confirmed bruising to the soft tissues of his face.
A spokesperson for the General Prosecutor's Office confirmed the incident in response to an inquiry from Kun.uz and stated that a preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Chust district prosecutor's office.
Yakubkhodjaev’s actions could be classified under Part 2 of Article 52 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Intentional infliction of minor bodily harm). If confirmed, he may face a fine up to four times the base calculation unit (1.5 million UZS). According to Article 245 of the same code, such cases are handled by criminal courts.
However, by law, a judge’s personal integrity is inviolable. A judge cannot be held administratively accountable without the approval of the Qualification Collegium of Judges.
For context, Jakhongir Yakubkhodjaev was appointed chairman of the criminal court in Chust district in July 2023 for a five-year term. Before that, he held the position of chairman of the criminal court in Izboskan district.
