EV imports to Uzbekistan increased by 1.5 times in 2024
In 2024, Uzbekistan imported over 24,000 electric vehicles, with China continuing to dominate as the primary supplier, accounting for 99.5% of all imports.
Compared to 2023, electric vehicle imports saw a significant increase of 8,011 units, marking a rise of nearly 1.5 times. The total value of these imports reached $224.8 million, according to the Statistics Agency.
In November, Uzbekistan imported 2,033 electric vehicles worth a total of $12.6 million. In December, the monthly import slowed to 1,872 units, valued at $9.5 million.
China continues to be the primary supplier of electric vehicles to Uzbekistan. Last year, 23,982 vehicles were imported from China, representing 99.53% of the total, with 3,900 of them arriving in November and December alone.
Additionally, Kazakhstan (51 electric vehicles) and Hong Kong (17 electric vehicles) were among the top suppliers, with no changes since October. Germany supplied 15 electric vehicles, the UAE — 13, and the USA — 10.
In 2024, for the first time in history, imports of electric vehicles and hybrids in Uzbekistan surpassed those of gasoline-powered cars. The share of internal combustion engine vehicles in imports dropped from 64.4% to 44.2%. Meanwhile, the share of electric vehicles increased from 20% to 32.3%, and hybrids grew from 15.3% to 23.4%.
