Shavkat Mirziyoyev discusses Central Asia + Japan format with Japanese delegation
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Japanese delegation led by Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Akihisa Nagashima and discussed further deepening Uzbek-Japanese relations.
Nagashima emphasized that Japan considers Uzbekistan a reliable and long-term strategic partner in ensuring and strengthening free international cooperation based on the rule of law.
He added that Japan highly values the dynamic development of bilateral relations across a broad range of areas, including economic and innovative cooperation, collaboration in the energy sector, industry, infrastructure, and social spheres.

The head of state expressed support for continuing active contacts and mutual high-level visits, as well as wished Japan success in hosting the World Expo, which is set to begin in April this year in Osaka.
It was noted that in 2024, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 35%, and the portfolio of projects with leading Japanese companies and banks exceeds $12 billion.

The parties also exchanged views on regional cooperation in the context of preparations for the upcoming first summit in the "Central Asia + Japan" format.
