Over 30 perennial trees cut down along Burijar canal in Tashkent

On February 11, a concerned citizen contacted Kun.uz, reporting that trees along the Burijar canal in Chilanzar district, Tashkent city, had been cut down. Initial estimates suggest that more than 30 trees were removed.

“All the trees planted here were fruit-bearing, and people passing by used to eat the fruit. They came at night and cut them down. I don’t know who they are. This has been going on for a week. Today, when an evergreen tree fell, I couldn’t bear it anymore, so I contacted the environmental authorities, and they accepted my complaint. There are cameras in this area; it should be possible to identify them. There were large mulberry, apple, and apricot trees. They cut them all down and threw them below. My neighbor has a camera, but nothing was caught on it. They must have come from the other side. No one asked for permission — this land belongs to the state,” said a local resident, Zokir Siddikov.

It appears that this was done in preparation for construction in the area. Currently, the Environmental Inspection is assessing the trees and calculating the damage caused to nature. Additionally, efforts to identify the violators are underway.
